Requests for statutory or regulation changes are appropriately directed to your respective local government affairs committee for consideration. The general process for these types of requests is discussed and vetted at the local level, upon which the committee will exercise its discretion to forward to the state (NVR) legislative committee for consideration. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your chair or vice chair of your local government affairs committee. Your local government affairs committee and the chair of that committee can be found on your local association website. This is easily found on our Visit My Local Board page of the NVR website.
No call handled through the Legal Information Line results in an attorney-client relationship. The Legal Information Line is strictly a source of general legal information, and not intended to be a substitute for individual legal counsel. If you are looking for an attorney to represent you, please contact the Nevada State Bar for a referral. That free service will be able to refer you to a real estate attorney in your geographic area: Lawyer Referral Service – State Bar of Nevada (nvbar.org)
Pursuant to ABA Model Rules and in accordance with the Nevada Rules of Professional Conduct as adopted by the Supreme Court of Nevada Rule 4.2 Communication With Person Represented By Counsel, to support the proper functioning of the legal system by protecting a person who has chosen to be represented by a lawyer in a matter against possible overreaching by other lawyers who are participating in the matter, NVR and it's attorneys are prohibited from interference by those lawyers with the client-lawyer relationship and the uncounseled disclosure of information relating to the representation. As such, NVR and its attorneys shall immediately terminate communication with a person if, after commencing communication, upon learning that the person is one with whom communication is not permitted by this Rule, unless the lawyer has the consent of the other lawyer or is authorized to do so by law or a court order.
