Nevada REALTORS® offers the Legal Information Line* for members to have direct toll-free access to a qualified attorney who can provide ​fast & free information regarding real estate law. This valuable service allows you to get answers to questions before they develop into more serious legal issues.

It enables you to:

The Legal Information Line is open from 8 am to 5 pm five days a week ​(except on holidays). The only exception to this schedule results when the attorney is required to be involved in state legislative, or educational matters.

You are now able to email your questions to the attorney! You can e-mail questions at any time. The Info Line Attorney will make every effort to promptly answer your email. Depending on volume and attorney availability it may take up to 24 - 48 hours to respond (excluding weekends and holidays). Send your question to

The subject matter of questions entertained on the Nevada REALTORS® Legal Information Line is limited to those questions affecting your real estate practice. For example, ​popular questions concerning the following areas: contract​s​, landlord/tenant matters​, agency, ​advertising, and seller’s real property disclosure obligations. Other matters that are not as popular but are covered by the Legal Information Line are: RESPA, fair housing, antitrust, easements, boundary ​issues, lease options, common interest ​communities, trust​/deed/title law, commission ​and referral fees, and generally anything involving Nevada Real Estate Law.

The Legal Information Line will not discuss ethics issues, which are matters reserved solely to the discretion of the local boards, nor will the Legal Information Line communicate directly with a non-REALTOR® member. 

Requests for statutory or regulation changes are appropriately directed to your respective local government affairs committee for consideration.  The general process for these types of requests is discussed and vetted at the local level, upon which the committee will exercise its discretion to forward to the state (NVR) legislative committee for consideration.  If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your chair or vice chair of your local government affairs committee.  Your local government affairs committee and the chair of that committee can be found on your local association website. No call handled through the Legal Information Line results in an attorney-client relationship. The Legal Information Line is strictly a source of general legal information, and not intended to be a substitute for individual legal counsel. If you are looking for an attorney to represent you, please contact the Nevada State Bar for a referral. Pursuant to ABA Model Rules and in accordance with the Nevada Rules of Professional Conduct as adopted by the Supreme Court of Nevada Rule 4.2 Communication With Person Represented By Counsel,  to support the proper functioning of the legal system by protecting a person who has chosen to be represented by a lawyer in a matter against possible overreaching by other lawyers who are participating in the matter, NVR and it's attorneys are prohibited from interference by those lawyers with the client-lawyer relationship and the uncounseled disclosure of information relating to the representation. As such, NVR and its attorneys shall immediately terminate communication with a person if, after commencing communication, upon learning that the person is one with whom communication is not permitted by this Rule, unless the lawyer has the consent of the other lawyer or is authorized to do so by law or a court order.

Please do not inform your clients, friends or others that your Legal Information Line is a source of free legal advice for them. It’s a member service provided by your state association reserved especially for you!
